Structural Engineering, UCL UNESCO Chair in Disaster Risk Reduction. London, UK.
I am Bikalpa Gautam, a recent graduate and gold medalist from Vellore Institute of Technology. My primary research interests lie in structural engineering, human-induced vibrations, serviceability design of structures, performance-based earthquake engineering, and disaster risk reduction. Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant at the UNESCO Chair in Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Engineering at University College London (UCL), under the guidance of Dr. Dina D’Ayala.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am passionate about exploring new places and immersing myself in diverse cultures and communities. In my free time, I enjoy engaging in a game of chess or getting lost in the pages of a good book.
I believe that resilience is not just a principle in engineering but a way of life, and I strive to reflect this in both my work and personal growth.
